Pam For The Glam

Hello, beautiful! I'm back with a mini review for my new additions to my ever growing Colourpop Lipsticks! This time, I decided to go for totally out there colors that may need a pinch more bravery to pull off. If you've been following me on Instagram @pam_for_the_glam you will immediately notice that I try to change up my look constantly and these new lippies definitely take each daring motd to another level.

First up, we have Dr. M, which is a dark green lipstick. If you can shed some of your inhibitions about lip colors and makeup, you should give this a try. My husband doesn't get it but I totally do. It's edgy and new. Something that will look great for night outs and even costume parties. If you can be brave about wearing it during the day, go right ahead. The formula is the same as the typcal colourpop--- swipe on enough to get the opacity you need but don't over apply because it will look patchy and feel chalky if you do. Tip: Use a brown lip liner to trace your lips before applying to eliminate the guesswork for applying this lippy. It's green and it's not very forgiving of mistakes you might make filling in your lips.

Next, we have Lychee--- a lovely magenta. It is the most tame color of the four in this review but I find that a lot of women still avoid purple toned lipsticks even magentas. This actually reminds me of Flat Out Fabulous from Mac, the first purple lippy I got. You want to explore lipstick colors beyond reds, pinks, and nudes? Take your baby steps with this color. You don't know what you're missing. The formula is consistent with Colourpop's ultramattes drying, needs primer, and requires a light hand in application.

Ouiji, is a bright coral that photographs almost, but not quite, neon. It's not the typical muted orange lippy. This lippy works well with autumn colors and it's bright hue gives a plump look to the lips. This formula has a tendency to be patchy and feels more drying than the other three lippies in the review.

The last lippy is Be-dazzled. It is a straight up violet that goes from a dark aubergine to an almost black purple, depending on how much you put on. I personally find it beautiful but some may find it too much. Next to Ouiji, this is the most drying, so make sure to prime your lips before putting this on. I would also recommend lining your lips beforehand as a guide.

These colors demand confidence so make sure you have enough to pull them off. I believe when you feel good about yourself while using makeup products, it just gives you an extra oomph that can't be beat.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and I hope you found this mini review helpful! May the glam always be with you! :)

Fly Ace Corporation gave us goodies to try out in the kitchen and to my surprise, most of the products were already stuff we've been using! The Good Life Bread Crumbs, Sesame Oil, the Dona Elena Olive Oil, Diced Tomatoes, and Olives are all cupboard regulars we prefer over other brands.

So let me share with you my recent kitchen creations.

We just had a potluck with the Davao Bloggers Society and the dish I chose to whip up was Penne ala Puttanesca. I used the Dona Elena Olive Oil, Black Olives, Penne pasta from the Fly Ace goodie bag and also bought some capers and anchovies also from Dona Elena. This dish is my go to light pasta dish because it is so easy to make and is always a crowd pleaser. Even my certified carnivore of a husband enjoyed it.

A good friend of mine taught me this recipe and we've been cooking it for gatherings since I learned how to prepare it. I would recommend this dish for those who prefer cutting back on pork or beef, or for those that would like to have a lighter type of pasta dish.

Since the only thing left in the goodie bag was the Good Life Pancit Canton, I decided to make something for my husband and my father-in-law. I made some Sesame Beef Broccoli Noodle Stirfry. I just marinated some beef strips in soy sauce, sesame oil, and oyster sauce. I cooked it with some broccoli and added some half-cooked pancit canton for some saucy noodle action. Guess what? They enjoyed the dish so much that there weren't any leftovers to keep.

Any cook will tell tell you that the best compliment you can give someone who made an effort to prepare a meal is a clean plate--- every morsel eaten with gusto. My hubby and his dad told me they loved the dish and went in for seconds... and thirds... and fourths... Until the platter was empty!

This was my first time to cook this dish and I am happy that my family enjoyed it. I always feel a little anxious when I'm trying out something new in the kitchen.

Thanks, Fly Ace, Dona Elena, and Good Life for the goodies. We really enjoyed the experience :) Now we can add another dish to our house menu faves!

Hello, gorgeous! I've been hearing wonderful things about the Laneige BB Cushion and I just had to try it for myself. I've tried BB creams but have never given cushions a whirl. I spent so many hours looking at reviews and Laneige always came out on top.

The seller I got it from describes it as a premier cushion that is long lasting and has oil control properties. It also has spf 50 which is ideal for protection against sun damage. The foundations I own, except for the bb creams, do not have sunscreen. I was looking for something that could be used for outdoor excursions.

Unboxing the Laneige BB Cushion

No primer, no setting powder, and no setting spray

With primer, setting powder, and setting spray

I've been using this cushion for my natural and light MOTDs and it took some time to adjust to the coverage beacuse I'm used to full coverage. This dilemma is easily remedied by using a little concealer after applying the product.

  Pros:
1. Feels lightweight on the skin
2. Works well with cheek tints
3. It includes a free BB Cushion refill
4. The packaging is beautiful and compact
5. It has SPF 50
6. Longwearing--- lasts you the entire day without having to reapply
7. Luminous skin effect

  Cons:
1. Pricey
2. Hard to find
3. Has gray cast
4. Light to medium coverage only
5. Limited shades--- the darkest shade is still a little light on my NC40 skin

All in all I believe that it is a great purchase for those looking for a lighter base for their motds. I personally use it when I don't want to put on a full face. I find the fact that it has a free refill to be a big plus because even if it is more expensive than other cushions out there, you already have a backup waiting for you when you run out.

I would not recommend it for those looking for matte and full coverage. I would also refrain from using flash photography with this product. For those with darker skin tones, I think you would have to do your research if you can work with their shades because it comes off pretty light.

I hope you found this review helpful. Thanks for visiting and may the glam be with you! :)

Hubby and I love watching tv shows so much and iflix is the perfect app for our movie/tv date nights--- especially because it's always raining so we often have to stay home instead of going out.

One of the first flicks we re-watched was Kill Bill. We enjoyed the experience so much that we decided to try out some of the tv shows they have. We are currently hooked on Mr. Robot so we're probably going to stock up on some snacks and we're expecting to lose a lot of sleep binge watching while snuggling.

There's even something for my little girl. She'll get a turn once we finish our current obsession but for now, Mr. Robot needs our full attention, haha! :)

If you're a PLDT subscriber, ask about iflix. You won't regret it! It's fast, legal, and super convenient. There's just so many movies and tv shows waiting for you to rewatch or discover. Frustration-free access to movies and tv shows that's super affordable for any couch potato. :)

Download the app now and break out the popcorn. Time for some serious movie marathon fun! May the glam be with you!  :)

Hi, Gorgeous! I purchased the Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft -Matte Hydrating foundation and I tested it out for this review. I've been using it to give you a fair review about the product. I hope you find this mini review helpful. I have combination skin in the shade NC40 for referrence. I picked this foundation out simply because I need a foundation for days when my skin is dry because most of the products I own control sebum and dry out my skin even more. I need something that looks matte but will not cake like the usual matte base I use on days when my skin is feeling parched. I got it in shade #60 or sandy beige.

The Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation comes in a sleek tube that is handy for travel or for storage in our modestly sized makeup kit. It has a thick consistency, unlike the runny or thinner ones I am used to. Go easy on squeezing out the product because a little goes a long way. It has medium but buildable coverage and has a beautiful matte finish. It does feel less drying than my other matte foundations. It feels moisturizing on my skin, glides smoothly and settles into a velvety soft look.

It goes on light but oxidizes into a darker shade, much like what I've observed with BB creams. It does have a gray cast in flash photography and tends to look ashy, especially without blush or bronzer so you might want to keep that in mind when you decide to use it. Oil control isn't the best but blotting areas that become shiny restores the velvety appearance.

Staying power is good especially on days when my skin feels dry. It blends well but DOES look way lighter on the face than as depicted on the tube or when placed unblended on skin. It does darken a little after a while but I would suggest getting a shade darker next time.

As mentioned before, it does have gray cast on flash photography so you might want to use something else when you know you're going to be taking pictures. In person, it looks great but it just has that white unnatural film on photos. I would also recommend sculpting/bronzing and some blush to correct the ashy appearance.

I personally like it for outdoor excursions because of its packaging and the lightweight feel on my skin. I prefer it over my bb creams because the coverage is so much better. Just remember to blot and you'll be fine throughout the day.

I actually kinda like it when it melts into the skin a little bit and it renders a more natural and slightly dewy finish.

So here are pics of me wearing it for my motd...

So that's my take on the Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation. I hope you found this review helpful. Thanks for dropping by and may the glam be with you! :)

We always try to have at least one meal together as a family because we feel that it is our time to connect with each other. It's tradition. My Lola and Mom always cooked great meals and we often continued to linger at the dining table long after everybody has "inhaled" every morsel of goodness. Most of our family gatherings demand good food and good company. We savor each bite, we savor each moment.

Nowadays, it's Nana (she's been with us for 25 years-- more or less, I'm not sure anymore, haha) who cooks most of our meals, because lola is no longer with us and my mom is now in the States. There have been a lot of variations, kitchen experiments, but the tradition is the same--- you sit and eat with the people you love. You could be eating in a resto and still be upholding the tradtion of togetherness.

You could be eating the saltiest, burnt, and almost inedible dish but you'd still enjoy yourself because the moment you spent with those closest to your heart sets it apart from any other meal without the connection. I'm quite thankful that Nana is a great cook and we get to be together while having good food--- that to me is a pretty good life.

Tonight, this was our simple dinner. Nana made some chicken sotanghon soup and used the Good Life Vermicelli and she used the Good Life Breadcrumbs for the chicken breasts. I also made a simple Asian Salad with Sesame Vinaigrette using the Good Life Sesame Oil. We just realized that we've been using these products even before we got the goodies. Nana was relieved to be using stuff she usually had in her pantry.

My daughter devoured two servings of the soup and even requested a few more slurps of the hearty broth. She polished off her bowl with gusto. My husband had to be convinced.

Hubby is simply not fond of noodles. He does not like sotanghon soup nor chicken breasts. He also does not like veggies. He may be the pickiest eater in our little family. Tonight, I urged him to give the dishes a chance because 1. It was raining and 2. I just didn't want to prepare anything else---except the salad.

The meal was certainly prepared with love and my husband even watched as I put together the salad and made his favorite dressing.

Guess what? We finished everything! The food was delicious but the loving looks at each other and our baby as well as the trivial but enjoyable conversation we had made the experience even better.

As we got ready for movie night, I looked at the empty plates and bowls--proof of good food, and our family's huddled position at the dining table--- proof of good company, I thought to myself... This is in fact, a pretty good life... May you have moments like this yourself... wherever you may be.

 Thanks for visiting! :)

The Christmas season is coming and I can't wait to do some serious shopping. Apart from buying the traditional Noche Buena grocery items, getting gifts for our loved ones would probably be one of the most exciting activities.

I attended Lazada's Roadshow and I'm excited to tell you about the Lazada Online Revolution that starts tomorrow, 11-11 or November 11 until 12-12 or December 12. We are so excited for the huge discounts and great deals on everybody's favorite brands. The deals cover product categories namely Fashion, Health & Beauty, Home & Living, and Electronics. There's something for everyone. I just found out they even carry grocery items and some of our preferred brands. My husband recently got a VR Shinecon Virtual Reality Glasses from Lazada and he loved the experience. The entire process was hassle-free and easy to do. He was consistently updated with the status of his order and got the item in 4 days.  They offer cash on delivery, free delivery, and requires no sign ups to purchase. We're both excited to do some holiday shopping online.

We're expecting a lot of discounts and we've started browsing for stuff we fancy just in case any of them are offered at huge discounted prices.

So here's my Christmas Wishlist:

1. Canon 760D- I need a camera for my beauty vlogs that not only renders accurate/true makeup colors but one that has a flip viewfinder. I think it will make vlogging so much easier if I don't have to guess if I'm in the shot. I film alone, so you can just imagine how hard it would be for me to determine how my setup looks on our current Nikon D90.

2. Photo Studio Kit Set Backdrop Stand with Storage Bag Black White Nonwoven Backdrops and Mini Clips. I'd love to start practicing photoshoots with my daughter and my blogger friends. We wouldn't have to worry about our background if we had something like this handy.

For beauty items and makeup, I'd like the following:

1. Sleek Highlighting Palette in Solstice- I've always wanted to get my hands on this palette because it is one of Jaclyn Hill's faves! it is currently on sale for only 399. A huge price cut from 875 pesos. You get 54% savings.

2. Jo.In Cosmetic Round Makeup Toothbrush Brush Type 10 pcs. Display Holder- I have 2 sets of 10 and 1 set of six of the paddle brushes. I would love to have this on my vanity table.

3. Suesh Mobile Makeup Station with Detachable Stand- I dream of becoming a makeup artist one day and this would definitely be one of the things I need/want once I get enough experience.

So those are the things I've been looking at in Lazada. I don't know if I'll get any of them, but it couldn't hurt to wish for fabulous gifts on Christmas, right? So what's on your wishlist? start browsing now http://ho.lazada.com.ph/SHJQvc

I'm planning to keep browsing on the site for great deals and gifts and I'll keep you posted so you don't miss 'em.

Thanks for visiting my blog and may the glam be with you! :)

We recently went to Malagos Garden Resort for some much needed R&R. One of the things that Glamazons are concerned about when semi-roughing it, is packing for the motd. Truth be told, you can opt to bring just a lip and cheek tint, a bottle of sunblock and a tube of bb cream. I wanted to see if I could come up with an motd with less than what I normally use at home but more than what I would use for my no makeup look. I wanted this particular excursion to have some semblance of glam and not the usual minimal makeup (if any at all) I often go for on outdoorsy trips. I've tried the usual makeup route for overnight stays but I've never quite tried glamping or trying to be fashionable while on a trip. I usually don't care too much about motds when I'm on vacay, so I decided to try it on our Malagos Garden Resort stay.

  So what did I pack?

1. Nivea Post Shave Balm- I repacked it in a smaller and much lighter container---a soft squeeze bottle to be precise. I want my makeup to glide smoothly and stay on all day. if I don't use a primer, my skin, sweat, and oil will eat up all the products in a just a few hours.

2. Etude Brow Pencil (#2 Brown) and M.A.C Browset (Girlboy)- I use the pencil to shape the brows and the browset or the browcara to match my brows to my hair. No glam look is complete without fantastic brows.

3. M.A.C. Individual Eyeshadows in Brule and Espresso- If you can only bring a few items, a good cream base is a must and a brown shadow will give your eyelook some dimension or even a smokey effect that is 100% fabulous.

4. Maybelline Hypersharp Eyeliner and Etude House Play 101 Pencil (#49)- If you want a softer look, use just the Etude House Pencil. I wanted drama, and Maybelline Hypersharp delivers drama.

5. Clinique High Impact Mascara- You want to frame those peepers with lush lashes and I have the sampler size from a set that is essential for this glamping excursion.

6. L'Oreal Infallible Pro- Matte (Golden Beige)- You need the ultimate face base that will keep the oil at bay and stay on all daw. Maybelline Matte and Poreless is also a good choice but glamping would dictate that the lighter and sleeker packaging is the better choice.

7. BYS Contour and Highlighting Sticks- these are cream sticks that glide on smoothly on the skin and do not budge once set.

8. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer- I used this to make my brows sharper and to hide the dark circles under my eyes.

9. Maybelline White Stay Fresh 2-way Powder (Sand beige)-  My usual setting/finishing powders were too bulky to bring and I can imagine too messy to attmpt. I decided to pat this on my face to set my makeup.

10. M.A.C. Sculpt and Shape Compact- I set my contour and highlight with this instead of my fave Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette. Smaller but also effective.

11. Colourpop Supershock Cheek Blush in Clutch- This small and compact blush packs is highly pigmented and requires a light touch to give you a sweet and natural blush. I chose this because it seemed the least fragile of my blush collection.

12. Colourpop Supershock Highlighter in Lunch Money- This cream highlighter glides on smoothly on the skin and gives that controlled dewy illusion that balances the full makeup look. It is essential if you want a full face but don't want a matte and cakey look. I chose this amongst my highlighter collection because the last time I packed my Becca Champagne Pop, it shattered during travel.

13. Colourpop in Clueless- This innocent but playful matte pink gives you a lip color you don't have to retouch as much (if at all) and gives you a soft but finished look.

14. L'Oreal Infallible Makeup Extending Setting Spray- this seals the makeup and lets it set as it dries. I repacked it in a smaller atomizer for the glamping trip.

I managed to fit all of these and some extras I wound up not using in a medium-sized cosmetic bag. Full glam looks often require a cosmetic case but I managed to minimize the products enough to fit into my handbag.

Here is my glamping motd topped with a wide brimmed hat for effect and sun protection. :)

I had so much fun putting together this motd. I hope you also had fun reading about my glamping experience and hopefully you try it out for yourself too. I've always gone the sans or minimal makeup look and I just wanted to try something new. This was another thing I simply had to say yes to in my journey of self-love, self-acceptance, and discovery.

So what are you waiting for? Say yes to something new today... :) . May the Glam be with you! :)
