Pam For The Glam

Maybelline Superstay Ink Crayon (top to bottom- Stay Exceptional, Lead the Way, Treat Yourself, and Own Your Empire)

Hi, Glamazons! I haven't had a minute to myself lately so I haven't had much time to write. One of the recent makeup haul  I've been dying to write about is the Maybelline Superstay Ink Crayon line. I've only purchased four of the shades they have but I think I've got the neutrals, reds, and pinks covered with my choices. Curious about these babies? Read on!

The Packaging

Each lippy comes in a sleek, retractable, pen-type packaging with a cap. It also has a removable bottom that holds a sharpener. I love this type of packaging because it makes lipstick applications more precise and they don't take up too much space in your bag.

This pencil type packaging has a detachable bottom piece that holds the sharpener

The Shades

Own Your Empire

A bright scarlet shade that has a blue undertone. This shade reminds of me of Riri Woo from Mac but isn't as drying as the usual matte reds I'm used to.

Treat Yourself

A vibrant fuchsia that demands attention. While this shade may not be for the faint of heart, it certainly looks great on the lips. I like using minimal eye makeup and letting this lippy be the star of my motd. This is actually my favorite shade of the four.

Stay Exceptional

A nude pink with a slightly purple undertone. This shade reminds me of Colourpop's Lumiere 2 and looks great on most skintones. This is my go to nude as of the moment.

Lead the Way

A nude rosey mauve that may be the best choice for gals who favor neutral motds.

Pros

>The formula feels light on the lips and has a satin feel when applied but sets into a lovely velvet matte

>Pen type packaging makes it easier to apply and it certainly looks cute. Sharpener is a definite plus to keep those edges crisp

>Long wearing. As long as you don't eat oily food, they pretty much stay in place all day.

>Affordable at 299 pesos each

>Has a subtle cocoa-vanilla scent. I prefer unscented but I this subtle scent is much better than products with waxy and alcohol laden scents.

>Easier to remove than the Superstay Matte Ink

>Does not dry out my lips as much

Cons

>Tip is soft and if you don't make sure it's pointy, you can have smudged edges.

>While it may be easier to remove, the lippies can still leave a faint stain on the lips

>Not completely transfer proof

At this point I'm just nitpicking because I really love these lippies.

Swatches and Application

These lipsticks go on smoothly and they appear the same as the shade of their pen's packaging when swatched. I personally prefer going light on the eyeshadows for Own Your Empire and Treat Yourself because their colors pack a punch and they really bring the attention to your lips. I like the dramatic winged liner for them just to round up the look. For the neutral tones, you can wear a bolder look but they also work well with light makeup.

I find that the best way to apply it is to layer it on until you get the opacity you want. I don't recommend rubbing your lips together while it's still fresh from the tube because it makes the product look uneven. Simply apply until you get the level of opacity you want and let it set. You can blot or press your lips together once the product has dried a bit.

Is it longwearing? Yes. For as long as you're not eating anything oily or if you're careful, the product stays on without any touch ups. It doesn't bleed out of the drawn area and the line stays crisp if you don't mess with it. There's some product transfer when you drink or eat but not a whole lot. I find that when the lippy becomes uneven, you can just press your lips together, it will even out some of the color. Unlike with the matte liquid lipsticks, layering over the older application won't cause any caking.

All in all, this is definitely a lip product I would recommend to all you glamazons. They're matte, vibrant, and kind on the lips.

Thanks for dropping by and may the glam be with you always! :)

Today's makeup beat

Hi, Glamazons! I created this motd to test out Snody as my skin prep, My Skin Breathe as my primer, and Loreal Infallible Fresh Wear to see how my look will hold up with the combo of products for a typical day I  have full makeup on.

This look lasted for about 8 hours without touch ups, 1 snack and dinner.

Wear test

The products I used for this look are:

Skin Prep: Snody Propolis, My Skin Breathe
Brows: Missha, Careline Better Than Basic Brow Liner, Naturactor Coverface
Eye: ABH Subculture, Estee Lauder Mascara, EB Advance Eyeliner,
Base: Loreal Infallible Fresh Wear, Bench Daily spell, Hoola bronzer Becca Moonstone
Lips:  Colourpop Beeper Maybelline Rich Wine
Setting Spray: Human Nature Rosewater

After 8 hours

Just applied Motd

So this is the look I went with for this post. Eight hours for an motd is pretty great for me and if you want to recreate the look, just check out the products I used.

Thanks for dropping by and may the glam be with you always!

Hi, Glamazons! I finally got my hands on the 3 highlighters from Vice Cosmetics. I've been curious about them but they're always sold out online and in my area. I was just about ready to lose hope of getting them when I managed to snag them while I was in SM Lanang a few weeks ago.

The Vice Cosmetics highlighters come in 3 shades: Shining, Shimmering, and Splendid.

Vice Cosmetics Highlighters come in  small plastic compacts in a fuchsia metallic finish that are sturdy and beautiful

These highlighters come in fun, cute, and edgy packaging with Vice Ganda's star tattoo trademark embossed on the surface of the product. They are fine-milled and quite blendable when swatched.

These highlighters can be a little powdery right off the palette but when blended well, they give a nice and dewy sheen on the skin.

Vice Cosmetics Highlighters when swatched

For your reference, I've decided to rummage through my highlighter collection and find similar products you might be familiar with so you can get a better idea of how they actually look.

Shining- Champagne gold highlighter that gives the wearer a warm-toned glow. I would use this for the bronze goddess look or with motds that use a warm palette of colors. It looks similar to Maybelline's Master Chrome in Molten Gold but slightly more peachy and warmer in tone.

Vice Cosmetics Shining swatched beside Maybelline Master Chrome in Molten Gold

Shimmering- A frosted Pink glow that looks stunning on top of blush. It's a flattering rose gold that I think works well with both simple everyday makeup and cool-toned totally snatched motds. This shade is similar to Maybelline's Master Chrome Molten Rose Gold shade. They both have that lovely pomelo undertone.

Vice Cosmetics Shimmering swatched beside Maybelline Master Chrome in Molten Rose Gold

Splendid- I would describe this as an Icy silver shade that works well with cool toned motds. It reminds me of Becca's Moonstone. It has very little difference in tone when swatched side by side. This shade is my fave for my noseline, inner corners of the eyes and on top of my cupid's bow.

Vice Cosmetics Splendid swatched beside Becca Moonstone

All three highlighters are fine-milled and give you that blinding, dewy- almost wet look when blended into the skin.

 Shimmering when worn

Splendid when worn

They don't have chunky glitters. They are easy to blend and quite buildable. These highlighters are so wearable and work great for both everyday motds and glam looks for any skin tone. Although I imagine it would depend on the look  you are going for and your personal preferences.

The price point is amazing. At 149 pesos per compact, these babies are a steal!

The only negative I can say is the fact that they are usually sold out but that's not really a bad thing. It only means they're THAT good! These are so far the best highlighters I've tried at this price.

I would recommend this to glamazons who can't live without the blinding or lit from within element in their motds but would prefer something affordable. Quality-wise, these highlighters are the bomb!

Thanks for stopping by and may the glam be with you always! 😍😍😍

Hi, Glamazons! Our DBS fam was invited to the EB Beauty Fiesta Davao event and we had such a magical time with the brand. Ever Bilena chose to celebrate its Davao leg with a modern ethnic theme. We were encouraged to wear outfits with modern takes on our beautiful Filipino/Mindanaoan heritage. I was personally excited to be part of Ever Bilena's event because I believe this brand has empowered many by making quality beauty products accessible to everybody at a price that can't be beat.

I refer to Ever Bilena as the average Filipina's first makeup. It's affordable and available in almost all the stores we go to. Malls, grocery stores, drugstores, and convenience stores, they all carry Ever Bilena products. I know so many of my friends in college loved this brand and some of my readers have asked me about their products in the recent years. Being the makeup junkie that I am, I happily obliged and purchased various EB and Careline products for research. I never expected to become such a big fan of the brand but with the improvements and additions they've made, it's hard not to fall inlove with their new makeup line.

For my personal preparations for the EB Beauty Fiesta Davao, I got the EB Advance Uncover 2 palette, Eyeconic Palette in Mixed Metals, the EB LTD liquid lipstick in Moody Merlot, Careline Best Brows, Careline Brow Gel in Biscuit, the Careline Graph-Ink Liner, EB Advance Glow Out Highlighter in Strobe, and the Ever Bilena Super Curl waterproof mascara. For my outfit, I went with a black wrap top and a skirt with an an ethnic trim.

Ever Bilena and Careline products I used for the night

I decided on a dramatic burgundy-gold cut crease. Initially, my husband was worried that I might not be able to pull it off because it's not a look I do a lot and suggested I just do the usual motd I knew I was good at. But I just couldn't pass up the chance to go big on a look. I wanted a challenge. For me, beauty events are perfect opportunities to explore and showcase your skills and the products.

My burgundy and gold cut crease motd

Ever Bilena has really stepped up its game. I find that their makeup quality has improved significantly since my college days and their range of products has expanded with the times to pique and hold the interest of beauty enthusiasts like me. The Uncover 2 and Eyeconic palettes have really exceeded my expectations and I really believe it is at par with so many of the great brands I've been buying but at a much affordable price. Blendability is great. Color payoff is amazing. Staying power is awesome. What more could you ask for?

Guess what? The look I created bagged me the Binibining EB Advance award for the night. This win is for all the women I have always represented in my journey as a beauty blogger. Always remember that you are beautiful at any age, color, weight, or shape you are in. To those who have ever felt alone, unimportant, invisible, and unpretty--- this win is for you. I am 37, overweight, dark, and a mom of 2 and I am still learning the value of self-love. May this win remind us that we matter. May we always believe that we are beautiful. May we always be unafraid to be seen and heard. May we always choose to shine and stand out with the gifts we've been given.

A winning moment for the women I write for in my beauty blogging journey. Picture with Ms. Olivia Padilla, Ever Bilena marketing manager to my left and Ms. Creole David, EB Advance brand Manager to my right. Photo by Miel Laquindanum of Caramielrush

So this is how my look faired throughout the night. I finished putting on my full face at around 2 PM and the look survived til midnight for our small gathering with close friends.

No retouch beauty with Ever Bilena

Ever Bilena, especially the EB Advance line, is a brand I would definitely recommend to all my glamazon readers. I appreciate the brand's commitment to provide each Pinoy the products they want at an affordable price. They have expanded from cosmetics, to bath and body care, fragrances, and styling products and this range really gives them an edge over other brands in the market. After 35 successful years, the brand has not just proven itself as one of the leading Pinoy brands out there but a brand that cares about the specific needs of the Filipino consumers.

Thank you for dropping by and may the glam be with you always! :)

Bo-ing1, Bo-ing 2, Hoola, and Watt's Up in 4 square pans make up this palette

Hi, Glamazons! I saw Benefit's Ace That Face being featured in one of the ads online and I just had to try it out for myself. I ordered my palette from Sephora and it retails for about 1,344.00 PHP. I used it for over 2 weeks for my motds and now I can finally make up my mind about it.

Ace That Face packaging actually looks like a cute little notebook instead of a typical palette

Packaging

Ace That Face comes in a cute packaging reminiscent of a notebook/slam book complete with ruled sides. It has a mirror and four pans containing Bo-ing 1, Bo-ing 2 (both concealers), Hoola (a bronzer) and Watt's Up (a highlighter). Enclosed is a small booklet for the product description and tips and tricks on how to use it. You get 3g each of Bo-ing No.1 and No. 2, 4g of Hoola, and 4g of Watt's Up per palette.

Why I purchased it

I like buying makeup for reviews in combo palettes or mini sets because I have so many of each of the items I get that I don't really get it in full size unless it's a favorite or if I've run out of it. It gives me a chance to check out a product without fully committing to something I haven't tried or something that has mixed reviews from beauty gurus I follow.

What it is and how I use It

Benefit's Ace That Face is something I would probably bring with me when I travel because it has three of the essential items I use to create my motds. I use the Bo-ing concealers to highlight strategic areas of my face, wrap and sharpen the appearance of my brows. I also use them as base for my eyeshadows, and of course to hide imperfections.

After setting my foundation/day cream with powder, I use the Hoola matte bronzer to sculpt and define my cheekbones, noseline, and frame my face.

Watt's Up is the final touch I like to gently dab over the high points of my cheekbones, brow bones, tip of my nose and over my cupid's bow. I like how natural this cream highlighter looks on my skin. It gives off a healthy sheen that I totally love.

Ace That Face Swatches

Ace That Face works best with fresh or natural motds but you can definitely use them on a full face if you want but I personally like using this palette for times when I want to go for a look that's almost bare but better.

What I Wasn't Crazy About

The Bo-ing concealers are ok but it isn't quite as full coverage as I am used to. They conceal imperfections to a certain extent but when I blend it out, no matter how careful I am or what tool I use, the coverage of the product gets buffed out. At best, I would say that it offers medium coverage. That's ok for marks that aren't too dark but not so much for more obvious hyperpigmentations. The shades don't match my skintone at all so I use them as highlighters instead and to get a sharper look for my brows.

Watt's Up looks great on bare skin or over a light base with minimal makeup. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it doesn't stay on for long on oily skin like mine. It looks great while it's there but you'll find that you will definitely need touch ups to keep that "lit from within" look.

Motd using Benefit's
Ace That Face Palette

Would I recommend it?

I like using this palette for light motds. I love the fact that all the things I need for my base is there and I can rock minimal makeup without giving up sculpting ang highlighting. The packaging is nice and compact enough to bring along for touch ups.

Overall, while it isn't a ride or die product for me, it's still a welcome addition to my growing makeup collection. It'll get the basics done. Sometimes, that's all you need, really.

I would recommend it to beginners but not for glamazons that might have the same products in their arsenal already. In the future, I would probably purchase just the Hoola matte bronzer because it's my favorite product in the palette. It would be a good purchase for someone with dry-normal skin and for someone who doesn't have too many skin issues/marks to conceal.

Thanks for stopping by and may the glam be with you always!  :)

Hi, Glamazons! Ready for another beauty review? For this post, I'm going to review the cheek and lip products sent over by Mary Kay and I am just so excited to tell you about them. Having seen so many changes in the formulations in the makeup available to us these days, I have wondered how Mary Kay cosmetics has evolved since I last tried their products.

They sent me a package containing 3 Cheek and Lip Sticks and 6 Liquid Lip Colors. I used the products for over 2 weeks just so I can tell you how they worked for me.

Mary Kay At Play Lip & Cheek Sticks

These cute tubes of vibrant colors may seem intimidating to use but while they do pack a punch once swatched, they actually blend quite nicely onto the skin. I've always found it rather daunting to apply tints because they either don't show up on my morena skin or they come off looking patchy. With these cheek and lip sticks, I did not have any difficulty achieving the look I wanted.

The formula blends amazingly well and you can control how pigmented or subtle the shades appear on your skin and lips. It doesn't emphasize the dry patches on my face and lips and actually feels wonderful on the skin.

It is worth noting that these color sticks look better with minimal makeup on. I really like the fresh and dewy look I get when I use it with only a tinted moisturizer. The creamy blush/ lippy just makes the color appear more natural on skin without layers of foundation. These pigments are buildable so you can go as subtle or as bold as you want.

I like swiping it on my cheeks then buffing it on gently with a kabuki brush. I find that when you use this beauty tool, it just sits better on the skin and it doesn't look like you've been slapped silly to get that rosy glow.

The Mary Kay At Play Lip & Cheek sticks come in three shades. Namely Peach Pop, Pinkin' Out Loud, and Razzleberry. Depending on the shade you want, whether it's a warm coral, a cool fuschia, or a muted wine, there's a lip & cheek stick perfect for you. Personally, I love all three shades.

Mary Kay At Play Lip & Cheek Stick swatches

Mary Kay At Play Cheek & Lip Sticks when worn

These babies apply more like lip balm than lipstick. On the cheeks, they appear more like tint or a natural flush than the usual blush available. They feel creamy, light, and moisturizing on the skin. This is a welcome change from the drying tints and lipsticks I am used to.

If I had to point out anything negative about the products, it would be the fact that they aren' t long wearing especially if you have oily skin like mine. This, however, isn't a deal breaker for me because this problem can be easily remedied by prepping the skin with primer before application and setting it with a little powder. A quick retouch is also very easy to do because the product is so easy to blend.

The product has a slightly waxy scent (think crayons) which some may find off-putting but I honestly don't think this is a problem because it reminds me of natural beeswax. I personally don't notice the smell all that much.

You may find that the product has a tendency to settle in the lines of your lips (especially with Peach Pop) but a quick fix for me is blotting out the first application with a tissue then dotting on the pigment over your lips with your fingers.

All in all the Mary Kay At Play Cheek & Lip Sticks can be a wonderful additions to your makeup collection. I would recommend it to those who prefer minimal makeup and just want that healthy, dewy flush instead of the full makeup look. I think it would be a perfect gift to college students, or that friend who just wants a subtle motd.

Each Cheek & Lip Stick retails for P499.

Mary Kay At Play Liquid Lip Color

I used these lippies for motds and really had fun with the different looks I was able to create. These are opaque and set into a velvety matte finish. I love that they don't bleed and are relatively long-wearing when you're careful. To be clear, they will last you through a light meal but not if you're digging into an oily dish. These are moisturizing lippies that will give you that crisp, matte look but you will generally need a touch up or two throughout the day. The vanilla scent is quite pleasant and I don't get that bitter taste on my lips when I use them.

I generally like matte liquid lipsticks that stay on all day even if they can be a bit drying on the lips but surprisingly, I really enjoyed the Mary Kay At Play Matte Lipsticks. Unlike the moisturizing liquid lippies I've tried in the past, these go on the lips so smoothly without looking streaky or patchy. The fun, bold line of colors is definitely a plus for me because I really love changing up my looks from time to time.

After a few weeks of using these liquid lippies, I've noticed that my lips aren't as dry and chapped as they usually are. I also don't struggle to remove the lippies at the end of the day.

With the need for touch ups after meals being the only negative thing I've observed so far, I definitely recommend these matte liquid lipsticks to all you glamazons. I would use these lippies in between using the "drying" lipsticks I currently have and whenever I need to rest and hydrate my parched lips.

Mary Kay At Play Liquid Lip Color Swatches

These liquid lipsticks come in 16 shades and I was able to try 6 of the bold matte shades they have. I had a lot of fun with Red Alert, a classic fire engine red that I believe will look great on most skin tones and would be your go to shade for when you want an eye-catching red.

Pink Me Up, I would describe as a cool watermelon pink that may initially seem unnervingly neon but looks great with soft motds (the key is to let this color be the star of your look).

Plum Noir is my personal favorite because unlike other lippies I've tried with a similar shade, it goes on smoothly and gives you that edgy, dark (almost black) lip color that works well with cat eyes. For me, this shade is something I enjoyed the most because it applied like a dream and stayed on for most of the night I wore it.

Spicy Red is a versatile warm muted red that can be used in a soft and casual look or that glam vixen motd (think cat eye liner, sultry but subtle eye color, full sculpted face and just the classic red lippy). This is the color I would recommend to someone who wants a sure thing. This is a beautiful shade most people would gravitate to.

Taupe That is my second favorite shade but it can be tricky to use in motds because it is an ashy nude that can appear too pale like in my pic below. I've since used it with bolder eye looks, more defined contouring, and more blush with much better results. I also like to line my lips with a lip pencil 2-3 shades darker than this lippy. Doing this creates a defined border and a better pout.

Lastly, there's Mad For Magenta. I got so many compliments for this shade and I would definitely say it's a dupe for MAC's Flat Out Fabulous. It's an unapologetic mix of pink and purple that looks amazing on any skintone. Among the 6 lippies, this was the crowd pleaser.

Mary Kay At Play Liquid Lip Color when worn

The other ten shades I have yet to try are: Offbeat Orchid, Red Envy, Pink It Over, Vivid Violet, True Red, Bold Pink, Neon Nectarine, Champagne Gold, Hot Pink Platinum, and Strawberry Steel.

Each Mary Kay At Play Liquid Lip Color retails for about P599.00.

I'm really quite impressed with the Mary Kay At Play line and I certainly see myself buying the other bold shades I haven't tried from their Liquid Lip Colors. These fab finds are available through Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants.

Not sure which shades to get? You can try the Makeup Muse beauty app to help you choose which shades work for you. You can download it for free on your phone.

Thanks for visiting and may the glam be with you always! :)

Hi, Glamazons! I've had this product with me since December but I've only had time to get to it this week. This is actually the first thing I've ever ordered from Sephora and I can definitely say that I am happy with my transaction and plan to order again soon.

Trio bundle size vs full size

I bought this bundle mainly because I already have the Becca Champagne Pop in my makeup collection. It is, in fact, my current favorite highlighter. I've hit pan and feel that I need a backup for my fave and I wanted to try Opal and Moonstone as well.

The Becca Golden Glow Trio retails for about around $30.00. You get three travel size highlighters with 2.4 grams of product. For the full size Shimmering Skin Perfector, you get about 8 grams of product for around $40.00.

What I love about Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector is how beautifully they blend into the skin. The shine is buildable to a shockingly blinding effect but personally I prefer the glass-like look it gives my skin when subtly applied. It is the best brand of highlighter I have ever tried because it reflects light so seamlessly that your skin actually looks lit from within and flawless. It doesn't emphasize lines or pores but gives you that almost ethereal, healthy glow we all love.

I like using it with my full motd and almost always reach for it during special occasions. The glow stays on my made up face all day long and I never have to do any touch ups.

Swatches on MAC NC 40 skintone

Each Becca Golden Glow Trio comes with three mini compacts in the shades Champagne Pop, Opal, and Moonstone.

Champagne Pop when worn

Champagne Pop is a yellow gold tone with a very subtle peachy-pink undertone. Among the three, I find that this my personal favorite. Light enough to give fair skinned glamazons that golden glow and warm enough to make warmer skintones glisten like satin in the light. This shade is a Becca x Jaclyn Hill collaboration. This is the highlighter that made me fall in love with highlighters in general.

Opal when worn

Opal is a described as the universally flattering highlighter with a light pink pearl shade that works really well with warm or darker skintones. It reflects back as more of a white gold sheen than yellow.

Moonstone when worn

Moonstone is the lightest and coolest shade among the three. It would certainly look great on fair skin but would still work on darker skintones as well. I would definitely gravitate towards it if I'm using cool toned colors for my motd. Slate grays and silver would work well with this highlighter. It is renders its sheen in a pale, incandescent glow.

If I had to mention any cons regarding these highlighters, it would be the fact that they are pricier than the usual highlighters I have. They aren't available in the local market and you usually have to order them online. Thankfully, Sephora carries Becca products so this shouldn't be an issue. Lastly, I find that they are extra fragile compared to my other highlighters. I have had to repair my full size Chamapagne Pop after I made the mistake of checking it in my luggage when we flew to Manila. I would suggest, carrying it in your in the safety of your purse/ makeup bag when you travel. This set makes travelling with Becca more convenient as the smaller, solid packaging makes it easier to secure the product.

I would definitely recommend the Becca Golden Glow Trio to my fellow Glamazons. It lets you experience the bestselling shades of this beautiful line of highlighters without breaking the bank and their size makes them easy to take along for touch ups (although I've never had to do so with Becca).

Thanks for visiting and may the glam be with you always! :)
