First Family Adventure: Hong Kong! Must- Visit Places for Kids on Cebu Pacific’s New Route
Thankfully, Cebu Pacific has helped me revisit my childhood dream of going on an international trip as it opened fabulous new destinations that have direct routes to and from Davao. Of course, my family jumped at the chance at finally visiting Hong Kong and I'm happy that I am able to enjoy this experience with my kids. Not only did we get to have our first international trip but we were onboard Cebu Pacific's first Davao-Hong Kong direct flight!
We had to work on a tight schedule but we listed down places we planned to visit during our stay should we have the time, all of which are places you and your children would enjoy. From thrilling theme parks to interactive museums, here’s a guide to must-visit places that will keep the little ones entertained and engaged.
1. Hong Kong Disneyland: No family trip is complete without a visit to the magical world of Disneyland. With enchanting rides, beloved characters, and captivating shows, it’s a place where dreams come true. Don’t forget to catch the spectacular fireworks display at night! This was top priority for us and we went to HKDL on our third day.
My kids and I especially liked Land of Frozen because it is the biggest Disney animated film all three of us have enjoyed together. From all the thrilling rides, detailed setup, and attractions, this is a section of the park you should not miss.
We actually stayed until the fireworks show was over and that in itself was a magical experience. My feet and body hurt from all the walking but seeing the fireworks light up the sky and tell stories through songs was just wonderful. Disneyland truly is the happiest place on earth!
This place is massive! At over 915,000 square meters of land this is undoubtedly the largest theme park by area in Hong Kong. We visited this on our second day and we were so amazed by the layout and the world-class animal attractions.
3. Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade: This scenic waterfront is ideal for a leisurely stroll. Families can enjoy the stunning skyline views, visit the Avenue of Stars, and take part in the Symphony of Lights show, which illuminates the city at night.
We had a short visit here on our way to ride the ferry to get to the Harbourfront. The area can be crowded but the structures there as well as the view of the harbor was beautiful.
4. The Hong Kong Observation Wheel: For a bird’s-eye view of the city, hop aboard the observation wheel located at Central Harbourfront. The ride provides a fantastic perspective of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline, especially at sunset. Take note that you may have to line up to get to ride it. We decided to just enjoy the scenery and snack on the local food offerings around it. I also joined my Davao Bloggers Society at the Wine and Dine Event beside it.
Below are some of the places we could not visit because we ran out of time but they are definitely on our list of places to visit on our next vacation!
- Hong Kong Science Museum: For budding scientists, the Hong Kong Science Museum is a treasure trove of interactive exhibits. Kids can engage with hands-on displays that cover various scientific principles, making learning fun and exciting.
- Ngong Ping 360: Take a cable car ride to Ngong Ping village for breathtaking views of Lantau Island. Once there, families can explore the Giant Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery, making it a perfect blend of nature and culture.
- Kowloon Walled City Park: Once a fortified garrison, this park now offers beautiful gardens, historical exhibits, and a playground. It’s a great spot for kids to run around while parents relax in the serene surroundings.
- Hong Kong Zoo and Botanical Gardens: Located in the heart of the city, this is a perfect spot for families to enjoy a day out in nature. The zoo features a variety of animals, while the botanical gardens are home to beautiful plants and flowers.
With these exciting destinations, families can create lasting memories while exploring the vibrant city of Hong Kong. I'm so happy that my girls and I had this beautiful adventure and I can't wait to go on more exciting destinations!
