Pam For The Glam

Hi, Glamazons! I just tried the White Glow skincare line and I want to share my thoughts about their products. I don’t really like to stray very far from my usual products but I do cycle my treatments. The reason why I switch up the items I use is the fact that I feel the products eventually stop being effective on my skin without the mini breaks or sometimes the actual needs of my skin change with the seasons. Having more options to cycle into my daily skincare routine is always a good thing.

The White Glow products I tested out for a total of 2 weeks

I started using retinol during my late 30’s because my skin has started to show signs of aging. I also use AHA and BHA, Niacinamide, and Vit C. As you might surmise, regular exfoliation is really part of my skincare routine. While it has helped to improve my skin, it actually makes me more sensitive to products because it’s been through exfoliation. Apart from that, I have a lot of allergies and already have sensitive skin to start with, so you can understand why I’m hesitant about trying new things for my skin.

These products from White Glow promised to deliver amazing results after just 1 week of use.  It usually takes longer than that for me to see noticeable effects because my skin needs an adjustment period. So I decided to use it for 2 weeks. I was certainly looking forward to the results.

Scent and packaging

I love the fact the products don’t really have any strong scent because I try to always choose items that are either unscented or very mildy scented. I find that when the fragrance is too strong in products it triggers my rhinitis. I have never had that problem with this line.

The packaging seems sturdy for the creams and have very colorful layouts. For my own preference, I actually prefer a more minimalistic design and less colors so the contrast between the product literature is clearer. I have granny eyes so I really need the words to be clearer and bigger but I understand that this type of packaging can be boring and I do know that a lot of people prefer colorful and whimsical designs over the plain ones so it really just boils down to your preference.

White Glow Herbal and Whitening Soap

I really like the size of the soap as well as the shape. It smells like virgin coconut oil and milk for me and the smooth and round shape of it makes handling it a pleasant experience.

For people like me that have been using retinol and other micro peeling solutions, you may be more sensitive to soaps like this. The first few days, I felt a stinging sensation with this product and I always react this way to product switches anyway so I kept using it until my skin adjusted to the formula.

One thing to note when I use any kind of solid soap on my face, I like to use a foaming net bag and use the lather I get from agitating the product with the net. This gives me a nice foam that I then use on my face. I never directly touch the actual bar of soap to my face. This for me dispenses just the right about of product on the surface of my skin and makes it easier to rinse off. It also makes it convenient to hang up to dry thereby saving more of the soap. It is pretty solid as a soap and does not melt nor lose its shape as fast as other beauty soaps.

Some people like to keep the product on their skin for a few minutes but I honestly just rinse it off after spreading the foam. As long as you’ve removed the cosmetics or sunblock with makeup remover, I find that this soap does a good job at cleansing your skin.  Doing it this way minimizes my skin’s reaction to the soap and helps me avoid drying out my skin.

It would definitely be a plus if they added a foaming bag with this soap but then again you can always buy those online.

White Glow Facial Toner

I use this after washing my face with the soap and I make sure to always include my neck area in any skincare routine. The toner does not have the dreaded chemical smell I hate. I like how it picks up the last bits of oil and dirt from my skin and it leaves a nice glow.

I find that don’t need to use a lot of this product each time. One cotton pad with a good amount of the product is enough for each use. For other toners I find that I need to use more because I don’t feel like I’ve spread the product enough.

This toner does not dry out my skin but like the soap, I initially had some sensitivity to it. After a few days of using this product, my skin adjusted to it.

For the packaging, I really like the fact that I can see how much product I still have left in the container.

White Glow Facial Day Cream

After using my toner I put on the day cream which has SPF 30. I like how it applies and spreads on my skin. It is probably one of the smoothest formulas I’ve tried, it absorbs into the skin quickly and gives me a nice base for my sunscreen (yes I still use sunscreen after) and makeup. It has an almost blurring effect upon application. It has lightened some of my dark spots, and minimized the appearance of my pores. I like that there is no pilling when I work it into my skin. That is one of my pet peeves when applying any kind of cream on my face. I hate it when they pill or clump on the surface instead of being absorbed by the skin.

White Glow Facial Night Cream

I like how soothing this feels on my skin after the toner and how non sticky it is. Except for the day cream’s SPF, this pretty much gives me the same effects as the day cream. I like using it at night as it isn't cloying and oily. It makes my skin feel soft and hydrated throughout the night. I find that I wake up with a nice glow after using this product.

White- Glow Hand and Body Lotion

My favorite product of the bunch. I like how it is fast absorbing but hydrating. Non-sticky and feels super light on the skin!

I love how this lotion feels on my skin as it’s not sticky and while it does absorb quickly into my skin, it does lock moisture into my skin. I like how it smells and it works well with the fragrances I use.

Packaging-wise, I like how it looks— Barbie feeeeeeelzzzz! I like the fact that it is in tube form. No more shaking the bottle of lotion to get the product. You just leave it standing up on its cap and let gravity do all the work for when you need it.

This is my most recommended product of the bunch as this kind of lotion is great for the Philippine climate. It’s light, moisturizing, non pilling, and not oily nor sticky on the skin.

The Results

After a week, you will notice a glow on the skin as it has done enough exfoliation to reveal the new skin. As a morena, I don’t really expect any kind of drastic whitening from topical products and honestly, my skin was basically the same shade. I find that the lightening effect is really more from removing the old skin through exfoliation and since it’s essentially baby skin it will look lighter. I also avoid going out in the sun when I use these products so the melanin doesn’t cause as much pigmentation.

I've had pre existing texture on my face and upon my first use, because of previous exfoliation, I had some redness.

As with any new skincare, I always start out with some kind of sensitivity because that is just how my skin is especially after I started Retinol. I decided to continue with the White Glow line to let me see improvements.

This is my arm at the start of the review period

After using it for 2 weeks, I do notice an improvement on skin texture, pore appearance, and a slight lightening on my arms—although this isn’t really essential for me.

Before I started, I had a lot of texture on my face and using these products religiously for two weeks basically refined and smoothed out my skin. My makeup looks great on top of it. Discolorations from pimples and allergies also lightened.

After a week noticeable improvements on texture and discoloration. Skin looks smoother and the redness and irritation is no longer as raised as before. Applying the creams have a soothing effect on my skin.

All in all I think the skin refining, anti- aging properties plus the beautiful glow I experienced more than the actual skin whitening quality, would be my reasons to get these products. I believe if you are a morena like me, it just takes longer for the pigmentation to go away which is not to say the product is ineffective because you can actually see that my skin lightened a bit. So if you wanted to really whiten your skin you would need to use it for a longer period of time. I enjoyed trying this skin care line and I’m also very happy with the results.

In case you're thinking of getting them, you can buy them from their stores at Shopee , Lazada, or TikTok. You can also get them at Davao Farmacia Southern, in front of UniCity and beside Chowking Bajada.

After 2 weeks of consistent use, my skin has dramatically improved

Redness is completely gone, fine lines have disappeared, dark spots have lightened, my skin tone is much more even, and the treatment minimized the appearance of my pores. This has greatly improved the overall appearance of my skin.

It’s important to remember that while using these products, you need avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen as the exfoliation is going to make your skin more vulnerable to the effects of UVA and UVB.

If you look closely, you can see that the skin by the wrist is lighter than when I started the treatment

I hope you found this product review helpful. Feel free to let me know what products you want me to review next time.

Thanks for dropping by and may the glam be with you always! :)

MAC Ruby Woo remains a classic throughout the years

Hi, Glamazons! I just got MAC’s Ruby Woo, so let’s talk about it. I actually put off getting this shade for a long time because I always thought it was basically the same as Riri Woo so I decided not to get it at the time.

Fast forward to so many years later, Ruby Woo is still a favorite red for a lot of MAC girls so I finally decided to add it to my collection out of curiosity.

The story behind Ruby Woo is actually very interesting because they came upon this shade through a happy accident. The developers were tweaking Russian Red, the bestselling shade of red at the time, to come up with a formula that was less matte. The end result was this blue red that was more vivid and brighter than Russian Red and was altogether stunning in its own right. It was then launched as part of the 1999 Retro Matte collection with five other lipsticks— namely Verushka, Santiago, Bronx, So Be, and Moxie. Of this collection, only Ruby Woo has been retained and has become part of the permanent collection.

It is it's own kind of beautiful

I personally think this is my favorite red now. It's a true red that is crisp, stunning, vivid and flattering on my NC35 skin. I'm told this shade looks good on any skin tone though. The bright red makes your teeth look whiter and even with minimal makeup, this shade can give you that classic Parisian motd that is always a hit. It is a showstopper red for me and a definite must have for any Glamazon.

This shade is flattering and makes your teeth look whiter

I don't know why I waited so long to get this but because this shade is a timeless classic, it's never too late to enjoy it. For the pros, It is long wearing because of the matte finish and it really is a striking color. It's bold and unapologetic. Perfect when you want to power dress and exude effortless confidence. Cons would be the tugging that goes with any matte lipstick. it is also somewhat drying so make sure to prep your lips and moisturize. Now, I know I said it's longwearing but it isn't budge proof. as with any red, it is always best to line the lips first before filling in and then followed up with a quick blot on the tissue. After this, you can opt to use powder over the tissue to set or top with another layer of the lipstick. You also need to be more careful with red lipsticks because as stunning as they look, they aren't very forgiving in terms of smudging and transfer.

It's a true red with blue tones that make it flattering on any skintone

I definitely recommend this MAC lipstick shade to any Glamazon who has a fondness for the classic red lip. For me, this particular shade is something I would repurchase or gift to friends and loved ones.

Thanks for dropping by and may the glam be with you always! :)

One of my fondest memories growing up was going on ships to visit relatives in Manila. Choosing to sail instead of flying was an affordable way to travel and for me, it was a lot more fun.

I loved the cruise experience and the hotel-like amenities in boats and the travelling bit felt like it was part of the vacation. We had room service, there were guest lounges and viewing decks where sometimes you would even be lucky enough to spot dolphins racing the ship.

Travelling in general has become more expensive through the years and  I'm looking into showing my daughters more parts of the Philippines. Going on a chartered ship seems like a staycation bonus to me right now.

Granting the dream wedding wishes of their delivery partners, foodpanda delivers the spirit of love to spirit of love to their Ka-panda partners!

Just last year, three Ka-pandas and their longtime partners experienced wedding celebrations courtesy of foodpanda logistics. The love train went full steam ahead this year as 14 lucky delivery partners across the country were selected to celebrate a grand wedding.

“A wedding organized by us, for our delivery partners, is an unforgettable milestone in their lives that they will forever cherish,” said Ron Sanders, foodpanda logistics Philippines Rider Experience Lead.

Here just some of the romantic journeys of these Ka-pandas, who celebrated their unions with their better halves during the most romantic time of the year – the love month.

Love delivered through thick and thin

Ka-panda Glen Oton shares his journey of celebrating love with his partner. From overcoming financial struggles to cherishing moments of togetherness, they braved life's storms hand in hand.  “May mga hindi man pagkakaintindihan, pinipili pa rin naming ayusin sa dulo,” Glen revealed.

“Malaking tulong ang Kasalang Ka-panda sa pagkamit namin ng aming pangarap na ikasal sa isa’t isa.” In a beautiful ceremony, Glen and his partner stood before their closest friends and family, sharing heartfelt vows of love and commitment to each other.

Through it all

From highschool sweethearts to building a family together, Albert Cabañelez has been with his partner since 2004, and they have been blessed with three children. But, one simple wish remained constant – to tie the knot.

“Hindi namin hangad ang isang mala-fairy tale na kasalan kasi sobrang sapat na sa akin ang mai-kasal sa aking minamahal at masaya kami na naibigay ito ni foodpanda logistics sa amin,” Albert shared.

Never too late

Rodrigo Goyon Bongais Jr, a former tricycle driver, has shared 15 years of his life with his partner and two lovely daughters. Yet, even as their lives seem complete, there is still a missing chapter they long to unfold – saying “I do”. “
Kumpleto na ang buhay namin, kasal na lang talaga ang kulang. Kaya hiling ko lang sana na maikasal kaming magpartner bago ako tumungtong ng 50,” Rodrigo mentioned.

Thanks to foodpanda logistics’ Kasalang Ka-panda initiative, a promise turned to a reality. “Sobrang natuwa ang partner ko dahil natupad na ang pangarap naming ito kasi sobrang tagal ko na talagang pinangako sa kanya na pakakasalan ko siya,” he added.

In addition to the wedding festivities, foodpanda also showered its delivery partners with generous gifts and giveaways from sponsors, along with their adorable mascot, who played the role of "Ninong" Pau-Pau.

Other Ka-pandas also had the opportunity to get a special Valentine's Kit to surprise their loved ones, using their hard-earned Bamboo Rewards.

The Bamboo Rewards program, initiated by foodpanda logistics for its delivery partners, enables them to get in-app points for each completed delivery. These points can later be redeemed for various items, including vouchers, merchandise, electronics, vehicle accessories, and others.

“We're happy that we got to celebrate Valentine's Day with our Ka-pandas in such a meaningful way, and we hope that they treasure these precious moments,” Sanders remarked. “Kasalang Ka-panda is just one example of cherishing their unique stories and how we show that we see them, we acknowledge their journeys, and we're always thinking ahead to make their experience special."

Our Chickenjoy from Jollibee at our General Assembly. Photos by Nep-C Ledesma

Cheesy Yumburger from Jollibee. Photo by Nep-C Ledesma

If you're Pinoy and you find yourself watching all these Jollibee mukbang videos and feeling all invested in how the content creators outside of the country will like the food, have you ever wondered about how deeply rooted Jollibee is in our lives? Why does this fast food brand stand out so much for us? Why do we care if the Tom, Dick, and Harry or the born overseas Juan likes its offerings? Why does it matter that the pambansang spaghetti isn't fire for other people? Why does seeing them actually liking the Jolly Spaghetti make Pinoys feel all warm and fuzzy? There's so much Pinoy pride in Jollibee being shared to the world.

Our usual Jollibee Order- Jolly Spaghetti, Palabok, Yumburger, Cheesy Yumburger, Chickenjoy half original and half spicy and Peach Mango Pie

I grew up around missionary kids at church and they had divided feelings about the spaghetti.  Apparently for some, they can't wrap their heads around the fact that Jolly Spaghetti is sweet and has hotdogs while some of them think that this taste profile is the best thing ever since sliced bread! One of my pals came to visit years later and getting her Jolly Spaghetti fix was top priority before she went back home.

Pinoy friends back then were pretty much a hundred percent inlove with Jollibee, no questions about it. Almost everyone I know loves the Yum Burger, adores the Burgersteak, and the Palabok is actually my personal fave. Oh, and don't get me started on the Chickenjoy. I don't think I've ever seen anyone not fall inlove with this famous crispilicious and juicylicious fried chicken.

But why are Pinoys so emotionally invested in Jollibee? I can't speak for everyone, but if you care to listen, here is why I will always feel a deep love for this resto.

Growing up, Jollibee has been part of a lot of the good memories of my life with family and friends. When it finally opened its first branch in Davao City, we didn't even go all that often because at the time, eating out wasn't really a thing in our family. We would only ever eat out for birthdays, celebrating good grades, or graduations. There was a magical quality to Jollibee that just made kids happy to be there. I see now that my parents deciding to take us there was a gift geared towards making US feel special. When the day is about making the kids feel loved and letting us choose, we didn't go to just any resto. We went to Jollibee.

They put a special touch in all the food we love. It took Filipino style spaghetti, that is popular in every celebration at home, and made it readily available for every kid and adult wanting that party treat. The burgers are all delicious and flavorful and the special sauce--- I don't believe I've ever had it anywhere else. Jollibee is happiness and beautiful memories in a plate--- or box, if you're doing takeout. The nostalgia in each bite brings to my mind precious moments as a kid I got to spend with my parents and friends. Moments I can't really have anymore with my folks. I remember Kiddie parties I got invited to, and I still remember that peach mango pie my grandma and I would enjoy together whenever I got the chance to save up for her pasalubong during high school.

The smell of their food especially the burgers? Truly langhap sarap. You would even get teased whenever you came home from Jollibee because everybody knows that delicious smell!

In the later years, we could have Jollibee more often and we didn't need special occasions to make new "Jabee" memories. Yes--- a lot of Pinoy toddlers have referred to it that way. Both my kids did for sure.  And some of the adults I know actually refer to it that way endearingly. It was the most reliable meal you could get as a student and the most convenient choice for when you're travelling.

My family in the States used to frequent the Jollibee branch in California and one of my brothers even worked there when he was a student. From time to time, if they wanted a taste of home, having some Chickenjoy and Burgersteak really hit the spot. In case you were wondering, yes--- Jollibee in California tastes the same as the ones we have here according to my mom. Funny thing is, whenever she came home, she STILL would ask for a Jollibee date and order the same thing each and every time.

Jollibee is amazing at telling stories that tug at your heartstrings. I especially loved the Valentine series of advertisements they had as they unfolded beautiful love stories and everyone just tuned in to each installment. Kwentong Jollibee just connected with each Pinoy in a different way and some were even downright relatable. I mean, who can forget, "Two piece Spicy Chickenjoy with extra rice... and upgrade to pineapple juice." That one got me good. Still makes me cry. Those series of ads stayed with me for a long time and they still have the same effect on me whenever I rewatch them.

And the BEE. Let's not forget about THE BEE. To this day, I am still completely enamored by their Jollibee mascot. It will never stop being the most adorable fast food icon for me. These days you see him bustin' moves that I have never possessed the talent to actually perform myself. My kids love this mascot so much that both of them grew up hugging and kissing the statue at every store's door. Both always got extra excited at parties whenever he made an appearance.

Jollibee just IS Pinoy. Even when you argue that some of the menu items aren't Pinoy, this fast food giant really took these dishes, made them its own, and set them apart from all the others. The taste of all their dishes is so distinct that it's impossible to mistake it for any other resto's offerings.

Our usual Jollibee Order- Jolly Spaghetti, Palabok, Yumburger, Cheesy Yumburger, Chickenjoy half original and half spicy and Peach Mango Pies

So yeah, I'm invested because Jollibee is more than just a fast food resto and it's more than just the menu item people use for their mukbangs. It's associated with pure joy and home. It was part of our journey as Pinoy kids growing up, and it has ingrained itself  as the cultural phenomenon we have all come to love.

Simply put, Jollibee just represents a lot of the flavor profiles we grew up loving as a people and it encapsulates happy times and memories etched into our hearts.
