Pam For The Glam

Heartbreak is like standing in the middle of a sun-scorched desert...You're staring up at a cloudless sky, hoping, begging, for rain that never comes. You wait. You hope. You believe. And still, nothing.

That’s how it feels when someone you love pulls away. When the texts dry up. When the tenderness disappears. You keep showing up, like parched ground, thinking, maybe today… maybe now, they’ll love you back.

Spoiler alert: they don’t.

But you know what does show up?

Makeup.

Makeup is the rain we give ourselves.

After a night of ugly crying, red eyes, and blotchy cheeks, you reach for that concealer like it’s holy water. You pat on foundation like armor. Draw your eyeliner sharp enough to cut through sadness. Swipe on lipstick the color of confidence because if your heart is going to break, at least your face will look fabulous.

And the magic isn’t in covering up.

It’s in reclaiming yourself.

Because makeup, like healing, is a process.

Messy at first.

Layered.

Intentional.

It doesn’t erase the pain, but it reminds you... You’re still here. Still radiant. Still you, even if someone didn’t water the garden of your love the way they should have.

So yes, heartbreak is a dry, aching desert.

But makeup?

Makeup is the rain you give yourself when the clouds won’t.

And baby, no one glows harder than a woman who learned how to bloom in the dust.

Urbidontics is located at the 3rd level of Abreeza mall near the activity center's elevator. Their clinic beautifully designed, clean, and would certainly be at the level of international standard. They have several cubicles inside for their specialists and the staff is well trained and always accommodating.

One of my greatest fears is losing a tooth or having dental issues because having a great smile is a thing of beauty for me and it’s really a big part of what gives me confidence when I interact with people. Dental health is something I value and I have been doing everything I can to maintain it.

This post is all about my first root canal and the reason why I’m writing about it is because I want to share my own experience with it and to help alleviate the anxiety and dread that comes with needing to undergo the procedure.

Honestly, a lot of the things I heard and read made me almost too afraid to go through with it. Most of the stories I managed to read were horror stories so that didn’t help at all.

If you are afraid as I initially was, I hope this post helps.

Why I Needed A Root Canal

The filling for one of my premolars had come off and while I already had an appointment for the dentist, an unexpected incident occurred. I broke the back of that tooth while having dinner at a party. It broke the back part clean off, exposing the nerves of my tooth. The front part looked normal but on the inside back part, a huge chunk had been lopped off. I was in so much pain and I could no longer eat nor drink because  anything that touched the raw side of the tooth hurt so much.

Of course to make matters worse, this had to be on a Sunday night when all dental clinics outside the malls are closed and all the mall clinics’ dentists have already left. I can’t remember how many calls I placed that night, but we finally decided to try our luck at Abreeza because it had Urbidontics and Green Apple. Turns out, they are actually one clinic and while there were no dentists on duty anymore, their receptionists at Urbidontics were very sympathetic and accommodating to me. They scheduled me for the first appointment the next day and had me take Meifenamic acid for the pain.

These girls took care of me throughout my treatment plan, reminding me about the scheduled appointments and they have been so nice and accommodating throughout this experience.

The very next day, I had my dental xray done and Doc Claire gave me a dental checkup. She determined that the damage was severe and had exposed the nerves on the tooth and I was told that she could no longer just use a filling for it. I was advised to then have a root canal to save my tooth and to address the pain being caused by the exposed nerves. She went on to explain that because the tooth would be essentially dead but it would save it to be functional, this would compromise the strength of the remaining tooth and the fact that it no longer had a big portion for support actually meant that that part would most likely break as well.

Leaving it as is wasn’t an option because the opening would make me prone to infection.

Some people would probably opt to just have the tooth extracted but since mine was still salvageable, I wanted to keep it as I have never lost a permanent tooth before. Another big reason why I didn’t want it extracted was the fact that the tooth is visible when I smile. I can’t imagine how a gap there would make me feel. I already have so many things going on in my head that I knew that losing a tooth just wasn’t something I wanted to deal with.

Another part of the treatment would be the installation of a fiber post to reinforce the strength of the treated tooth. I would then need a crown at the end of all this.

What happened after you agreed to the procedure?

Once you get your dental evaluation, the clinic will design a treatment plan for you which will help you plan out your schedule and payments. All procedures involve putting on hair covers and booties to help maintain cleanliness and each immaculately clean glass cubicle is furnished with top of the line equipment.

Once I had decided to undergo the root canal treatment, Urbidontics immediately designed a personalized treatment plan for me which included both the procedures as well as the cost. This was sent to my email for my personal record.

They had me start antibiotics to prep me for the procedure and was told to take pain meds as needed. I was told it was essential to not be in pain on the day of the procedure so the anesthesia would do its work more efficiently.

What was the root canal experience like?

Days leading up to the actual appointment I had read up and watched all the root canal videos I could find and I would ask every friend and relative I knew about their own experiences. Most of the information I gathered basically said, you don’t really feel any of it because they give you an aesthetic for the pain during the procedure.

This is the affected tooth that I chipped the back of while I was eating. While it pretty much looks normal in the front, the back had broken off.

Personally, the thing that got me the first day was my own anxiety and sense of dread. Turns out, it isn’t as bad as one would think. Most of the discomfort is from having to open your mouth for a long time and pressure from the tools. The drilling sound may freak you out at first but eventually you get used to it and in all honesty, you can hardly feel
a thing. Anytime you start to have some kind of sensation in the tooth, the dentist would add more anesthesia.

The back portion of the tooth that had broken off.

So to help dispel any fears or preconceptions about root canals, the procedure itself for me was not painful. They will take x-rays of your tooth with a handheld x-ray machine to monitor the progress. And yes, they will constantly ask if you are ok or in pain throughout the procedure.

Once the nerves and pulp have been removed, the tooth is then cleaned and sealed temporarily. Assessment would be done on
the succeeding visits to ensure that you no longer have sensation in your
tooth. I was told that bruising or even pressure pain was normal but
sensitivity was not. These succeeding visits will no longer have any anesthesia involved as the dentist will need you to feel for any kind of sensation. At this point, it is virtually painless save for some slight sensitivity.

Basically, you work on the tooth until you and the dentist are sure the tooth is well and truly dead. You wanna be sure nothing gets left behind that can cause infection or rot.

What happens after the root canal treatment is done?

Once the rct is done, a tiny post is then placed at the back to strengthen the tooth. This is sealed and once you are ready to get a crown, it gets prepped for this procedure.

When being prepped for a crown, they will first try to match the natural color of your teeth with the crown they plan to put in. You get fitted for the crown and then the actual tooth and the filling are shaved down to a point where it can be ready to accept a crown. Your upper and lower set of teeth will then be scanned by a machine which will not only scan how your teeth looks but also your natural bite. After that, the results are sent to a lab where your custom crown will be 3d printed.

Doc Claire Señerez performed the root canal treatment, fiber post installation, and installed my crown for me. She was very patient with my many questions and helped me cope with my anxiety regarding the procedure. She did such a good job that I am no longer afraid of any of these procedures now.

For crowns, you will have the option to choose from porcelain fused to metal or a zirconia crown. The former is a budget friendly option but the metal part will be visible. The zirconia one is stronger and looks like natural teeth all the way through but is much more expensive. Since my premolar is still visible when I smile, I chose the zirconia one.

While my smile was never quite affected by the incident because the front stayed intact, Urbidontics helped give me peace of mind regarding my broken tooth. I don’t have to worry about that premolar's remaining part breaking unexpectedly when I eat nor will I need to worry about the compromised tooth getting tooth decay from the opening. And beyond beauty or aesthetics and just being able to eat on that side of my mouth again? The fact that I am now pain free on that tooth is something I am absolutely grateful for.

Thank you, Doc Urbi, Doc Claire, and Team Urbidontics!

Hi, glamazons! I wanted to change my regular diet to include more healthy choices for my everyday meals around February because I’m honestly overweight and just turned 40. If you know me, you know I love eating good food. I’m a live-to-eat kinda gal that loves to cook and I am most happy feeding people meals I’ve prepared with my heart.

I’m approaching things differently these days and am more conscious about gut health, nutrition and  portion size for calorie intake. It would be nice to shed some weight and to get my body to a place that will be able to do more without asthma getting triggered or to simply go out without stomach issues bothering me. I’m trying to be careful this time around with myself.

In the past, when I was in my teens,I would go on crash diets, my goal was always to just lose weight which pushed me to develop an eating disorder that messed up how I viewed myself as a person. I would be 110 lbs and be so unhappy with myself. I would punish myself for a hotdog I ate (never mind that it was the only meal I had that day). Purging, diet pills, laxative teas, or starving myself and exercising like the demons from hell were after me, that was how I fit into 22-24 inch waisted clothes but it was never enough. It was a long journey and a lot of attitude change that came with so many pounds that got me to a place where I am ok with what I am. I am ok with how I look. The carefully built self-love was a long time coming and to this day, it still isn’t quite perfect. I doubt if it ever will be.

I still get upset sometimes when clothes don’t fit right or when stores don’t have my size. I still feel some kind of dread going on elevators and hearing that alarm. I’m afraid of one day not being allowed to go on rides for being too heavy. I don’t hate myself like I did before. I am afraid of disappointing my children if their classmates point out that I am fat. I still balk at how accepted it is in our country to neg you about your personal appearance and to flat out say how fat you are. Dude, that isn’t news to the person carrying the extra weight. They see and feel it more than anyone else.

That being said, while I know I shouldn’t let other people hurt my soul, being on the heavy side will always hurt how active I can be with my kids. It’s just a fact. You can rock what you have while also acknowledging the fact that it is bad to carry your weight on your tummy and how obesity opens you up to a whole host of health conditions.

I hate how hard it is to go up the stairs. I hate how hard it is to shop for clothes. I, however, noticed that nowadays, I hate the circumstances and the effects of being overweight but I can honestly say that a lot of the self-loathing I used to feel is no longer there. It may sound conceited but I think I’m pretty great. I tell myself the things I tell my kids everyday in essence— You are smart, you are beautiful inside and out, you are kind (sometimes), and on the days you are feeling extra, you are gorgeous and fabulous! Some days it takes a minute to get there but unless there are genuinely distressing instances in a day, I make an effort to get in that headspace.

I still struggle with working out as weight impacts your knees and back and a lot of times it would frustrate me how exertion would trigger my asthma. So I thought to myself, the one thing I do have control over is what I eat so that is what I want to work on for now. If I get discouraged for struggling with workout, I need to regain control over what I eat and stop letting it consume me as it did in the past. I would like to be mindful of what I eat without making the act of eating joyless.

I’m not gonna beat myself up for not losing weight as aggressively but I figured I can still benefit from cutting back on the excess. I can help my gut health and maybe not make it so hard to go out for fear of upsetting my stomach. These days, I am very much into looking at nutrition, glycemic index, benefits of protein, healthier options and taking in only what I need. I have decided to keep the weekend meals normal where I can fully enjoy delicious meals with the kids and they see me enjoying meals with them. I still try to be mindful of portion control and swapping out rice for quinoa whenever I can.

These days I usually have a healthy breakfast and lunch  of either overnight oats, chia pudding, or my meal replacement shakes with fruit and almond milk. I then have a normal dinner with my kids but instead of rice I will have 1 serving size of quinoa. If I’m still hungry, I’ll have some nuts or tuna. So far so good. I don’t have episodes of the upset stomach as much as before and my skin looks so much better. I find that while I do still have occasional cravings for chips or noodles, my cravings for sweets have mellowed down even more. I tried having instant pansit canton and  I think after a few bites the idea was better in my head. My tummy just wouldn’t take it. I’m consuming less of the decidedly naughty foods and trying to get more water,  protein and fiber in my diet and I think that is great in itself. However small the improvement, I will choose to celebrate it. Baby steps until you can take off running and challenge your body more is what I keep telling myself. It’s been a month and I feel so much better about myself.

My favorite breakfast these days is the Chia Seed Pudding. I’m ending this little novela with this recipe my daughter has been enjoying with me since I started. I skipped 2 days without it and I immediately felt the absence of its benefits for my tummy. I’ve had tummy problems since I gave birth to my second kid and so far this change has really helped me manage stomach upsets.

My favorite way to enjoy Chia Seed Pudding

Banana Nut Chia Seed Pudding

  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds (make sure they aren’t expired)
  • 1/2 Cup almond milk or nonfat milk
  • 1/2 banana sliced
  • 1 Tbsp mixed nuts (I prepared a mix of pumpkin and sunflower seed, walnuts, almonds and cashews that are roasted but unseasoned)
  • 1 Tbsp of honey or packet of sweetener of choice

  1. Place chia seeds in a small jar or bowl. Add the sweetener and almond milk.
  2. Mix well, cover and place in the fridge overnight.
  3. Top with bananas and nuts and enjoy while drinking lots of water.

Chia Seed Pudding reminds me of tapioca pudding

Easy peasy, right? I hope you get to try it regardless of the journey you are on because it is absolutely delicious. It’s so good that even my 4 year old loves it.

I am not a nutritionist or health expert. I am simply trying to make better food choices for myself by eating what I need and increasing more of the good stuff available to me. It may not be the same experience for everyone.

Going to a party? Or have some gathering with indulgent dishes? Eat and enjoy what is there. At the end of the day, the good changes you make on everyday meals is going to impact your life more than that one gathering.  I just wanted to share this journey with you guys because it scares me to share stuff like this and I wanted to put myself out there and do something out of the box for me.

Are you trying to improve some aspects of your life this year? I’d love to hear about it. Thank you for dropping by and may the glam be with you!

Hi, Glamazons! As you know, the trend for beauty has really changed with the pandemic. It's hard to put on a full face with half of our faces covered by masks these days. Many of the glamazons I know have opted to focus on skincare or investing on longwearing makeup. Many prefer the minimal, often no transfer products that are  budge-proof under the mask. Another thing I see is the focus on eye makeup.

Nowadays, the eyes are practically the only features you see with half the face covered up. It actually makes sense that beauty enthusiasts emphasize and enhance this area with makeup. You can go bold with full eyeshadow with dramatic wings or subtle and simple, bare cat-eyed liner and any of these choices will kick up even the very basic masked look up a notch. There's something mesmerizing about perfectly winged eyes and even if you decide to go all bare and just use sunblock, the nicely done winged liner  just makes you look well put together.

That being said, while winging out your eyeliner looks really good, sometimes it can be really hard to execute flawlessly. I play with makeup so often but I still struggle with the flick to get those sexy feline eyes effect with the wings. I will sometimes mess up my eye makeup altogether trying to get the look.

I like the dramatically done eyes but seriously... The struggle is real sometimes. So it's really exciting to stumble upon hacks that make winging out your liner easier. I've tried some methods that have helped me out in this department but the third way I've seen is perhaps, by far, the easiest way to do it.

The cat eye liner gives you a sultry look even with half of your face covered up

1. Use tape

Take a long piece of tape, put the middle of the tape under the tip of your nose and stick the ends on each outer corner of your eye. This will basically be where you trace the eyeliner at to make the wing. Only problem I have with this method is the tape disturbs the makeup or does not stick well on my skin layered with makeup or creams and sunblock.

2. Use a stiff card

You basically just need a clean stiff plastic card (like old membership cards or expired unused atm cards---please sanitize before using) to lay at the outer corner of your eyes to guide your flick. This can still be tricky though and can still disturb foundation where the card is placed. cards are also stiffer and unyielding and will not follow the grooves of your face. This is my least preferred method but it works for other people.

3. Use a stamp style eyeliner

This is the quickest way to achieve the cat eye look for me and quite possibly the hack that doesn't mess up your foundation or have issues with tape adhesion. It's the fastest way to achieve the cat eye and the best eyeliner hack for beginners that want to get those even wings fast.

 Hi, Glamazons!

I recently posted a video where I created an MOTD using only Ever Bilena items. I personally wanted to explore the brand's growth as a local makeup company for my readers. I was excited to work with all the available Ever Bilena products I could possibly use and were available to me for a full makeup look.

Luminous motd using only Ever Bilena products

Ever Bilena has stepped up its game through the years and have churned out competitive products that have the same exceptional quality as those we can buy from foreign brands. Some of their products I can even say are better and all of which are definitely more affordable.

These face products are all amazing things to to use to achieve that flawless and sculpted base

Ever Bilena has improved its Eye and Brow game quite a bit

Lip products for the look

So here are the products I used in the video to create the look. If you're interested in creating a similar look, you might want to take advantage of the nationwide 6.6 sale to get even better deals for them.

1. Ever Bilena Advance First Step Mattifying Primer

2. Ever Bilena Advance Brow kit

3. Ever Bilena Advance Fine Line Brow Liner in Lily

4. Ever Bilena Advance Brow Gel in Soft Brown

5. Ever Bilena Advance Studio Finish Stick Foundation in Miel

6. Ever Bilena Advance Uncover Palette

7. Ever Bilena Advance All Day Eyeliner Pen

8. Ever Bilena Advance Eye Define Waterproof Matic Eye Liner in Smoke and Mocha

9. Ever Bilena Advance All Day Foundation in Olive

10. Ever Bilena Matte 2 Way Cake in Golden Beige

11. Ever Bilena Contour Palette

12. Ever Bilena Matte Blush On in Milkweed

14. Ever Bilena Matte Lip Liner in Toast of New York

15. Ever Bilena Matte Nudes in Bellisima

16. Ever Bilena Advance Mascara Duo

17. Ever Bilena Advance Lock That Look Makeup Setting Spray

Personally I loved creating the motd as it looks like a more youthful way of doing your makeup. I love the primer, the brow products, the liquid foundation, contour, blush and highlighter. If I could only ever have just 1 item I would choose either the contour palette or the highlighter.

Enjoy shopping for your favorite makeup and skincare during the mid year sale and get great discounts as well as free shipping. I hope you found this entry helpful and may the glam be with you always! :)

Hi, Glamazons! Our DBS fam was invited to the EB Beauty Fiesta Davao event and we had such a magical time with the brand. Ever Bilena chose to celebrate its Davao leg with a modern ethnic theme. We were encouraged to wear outfits with modern takes on our beautiful Filipino/Mindanaoan heritage. I was personally excited to be part of Ever Bilena's event because I believe this brand has empowered many by making quality beauty products accessible to everybody at a price that can't be beat.

I refer to Ever Bilena as the average Filipina's first makeup. It's affordable and available in almost all the stores we go to. Malls, grocery stores, drugstores, and convenience stores, they all carry Ever Bilena products. I know so many of my friends in college loved this brand and some of my readers have asked me about their products in the recent years. Being the makeup junkie that I am, I happily obliged and purchased various EB and Careline products for research. I never expected to become such a big fan of the brand but with the improvements and additions they've made, it's hard not to fall inlove with their new makeup line.

For my personal preparations for the EB Beauty Fiesta Davao, I got the EB Advance Uncover 2 palette, Eyeconic Palette in Mixed Metals, the EB LTD liquid lipstick in Moody Merlot, Careline Best Brows, Careline Brow Gel in Biscuit, the Careline Graph-Ink Liner, EB Advance Glow Out Highlighter in Strobe, and the Ever Bilena Super Curl waterproof mascara. For my outfit, I went with a black wrap top and a skirt with an an ethnic trim.

Ever Bilena and Careline products I used for the night

I decided on a dramatic burgundy-gold cut crease. Initially, my husband was worried that I might not be able to pull it off because it's not a look I do a lot and suggested I just do the usual motd I knew I was good at. But I just couldn't pass up the chance to go big on a look. I wanted a challenge. For me, beauty events are perfect opportunities to explore and showcase your skills and the products.

My burgundy and gold cut crease motd

Ever Bilena has really stepped up its game. I find that their makeup quality has improved significantly since my college days and their range of products has expanded with the times to pique and hold the interest of beauty enthusiasts like me. The Uncover 2 and Eyeconic palettes have really exceeded my expectations and I really believe it is at par with so many of the great brands I've been buying but at a much affordable price. Blendability is great. Color payoff is amazing. Staying power is awesome. What more could you ask for?

Guess what? The look I created bagged me the Binibining EB Advance award for the night. This win is for all the women I have always represented in my journey as a beauty blogger. Always remember that you are beautiful at any age, color, weight, or shape you are in. To those who have ever felt alone, unimportant, invisible, and unpretty--- this win is for you. I am 37, overweight, dark, and a mom of 2 and I am still learning the value of self-love. May this win remind us that we matter. May we always believe that we are beautiful. May we always be unafraid to be seen and heard. May we always choose to shine and stand out with the gifts we've been given.

A winning moment for the women I write for in my beauty blogging journey. Picture with Ms. Olivia Padilla, Ever Bilena marketing manager to my left and Ms. Creole David, EB Advance brand Manager to my right. Photo by Miel Laquindanum of Caramielrush

So this is how my look faired throughout the night. I finished putting on my full face at around 2 PM and the look survived til midnight for our small gathering with close friends.

No retouch beauty with Ever Bilena

Ever Bilena, especially the EB Advance line, is a brand I would definitely recommend to all my glamazon readers. I appreciate the brand's commitment to provide each Pinoy the products they want at an affordable price. They have expanded from cosmetics, to bath and body care, fragrances, and styling products and this range really gives them an edge over other brands in the market. After 35 successful years, the brand has not just proven itself as one of the leading Pinoy brands out there but a brand that cares about the specific needs of the Filipino consumers.

Thank you for dropping by and may the glam be with you always! :)

Hi, Glamazons! I just want to share my My Skin Origins journey with you. I've always been nonchalant about skincare but after all the testimonies I've heard from the loyal users of My Skin, my curiosity was piqued and I decided to give their products and services a go.

I started using My Skin products on December of 2016. The first product I ever tried was their Organics Kojic Plus Soap which was actually recommended to me by Nana (who has been with us for more than 25 years) because I gave her one of the soaps I got during our acquaintance party. She told me it cleared up her pimples and lightened her discolorations so I tried it and was surprised that I felt no stinging sensation and experienced no sun sensitivity afterwards. After getting more reviews about their products from DBS users, I later switched to Pino Tropika for my body and Pore No More for my face because I wanted the squeaky clean feel for my body soap and pore refining/ pore tightening for my facial soap. I can honestly say that my skin has improved a lot after using these products. I feel a lot more confident about going bare faced.

I've been given the chance to sample some of their products and services and so far, I've been enjoying my My Skin Origins Journey. I also appreciate Ms. Jen and her staff's work ethic. They know their products and services well and they are so professional.

I've already written about my facial experience and it really changed how I felt about the whole process. In the past, I've had painful ones and they often left my skin flaky with my face appearing red and irritated after the procedure. I really didn't see facials as pampering sessions but painful ones where I had to clear my schedule because I was nowhere near presentable afterwards and my face often felt bruised. The Diamond Microdermabrasion really made a big difference. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get smooth, and glowing skin without the pain or redness.

I also tried their Lipo Cavitation which uses an ultrasound device to destroy fat cells. It involves running and pressing the device against the targeted area to get rid of the fat in the area. The results are instant, with a before and after measurement showing you exactly how much you've lost after the session. I had the procedure done on my arms and abdominal area and lost at least 2 cms per area. I would advise you to manage your expectations regarding this procedure because you will also need to make adjustments in your diet and exercise if you can. The therapists will tell you that the results will vary depending on the lifestyle changes you are willing to make. I am impressed with the results and would recommend it to anyone who wants to lose fat in targeted areas.

Among their products, I am crazy about their Pore No More Soap, Pore Minimizing Toner, Pino Tropika, Extreme Whitening Underarm Spray, and their Shea Cocoa with Arbutin Body Butter. I plan to feature each of the products I've tried for at least a month on my next post to share my experience with them.

Generally speaking, I am surprised at how much my skin has improved with their products and I am also happy to have finally found a proudly Pinoy company that offers quality products and services. I have never stuck to a single skincare brand for as long as I have with My Skin Origins. The soaps and the after bath regimen is so easy to do and the results so encouraging.

Curious about any My Skin product or procedure? Comment down below so I can try them or review them for you.

Thanks for visiting and may the glam be with you always! :)

Hi, Glamazons! I just had my first Browhaus experience and I'm so excited to share my first time to try their eyelash extensions. Ms. Monique invited us to try their painless brow threading as well as their lash services. We just had to decide which look suited us best. The selections were the Lash Curl Up, which curls your lashes, the Lash in Bloom (LIB), and the Express Lash in Bloom (XLIB). The most natural looking lash service is the Lash in Bloom which painstakingly adds one lash at a time to achieve a believably real lush set of lashes while the Express Lash in Bloom adds 3 strands at a time,  also known as cluster extensions, which creates a dramatic look. The XLIB, was offered to us in two styles, one was the doll style and cat eye. The first one makes you look like a doll as it opens up your eye area with a row of long clusters that are ever so slightly longer at the middle while the cat eye is basically thick but shorter from the inner corner of the lash line and fans out into longer clusters at the outer corners, giving an almost false winged eyeliner look.

I liked their brow threading service a lot. My brows are often shaped and groomed by yours truly and the few times I've tried threading from other establishments were often quite painful. In Browhaus, they use a different kind of thread and the staff are trained quite well and I find that their technique is relatively painless compared to the services I've tried before. I don't really mind the pulling or even the somewhat stinging sensation but what I do mind when too much brow hairs are taken out. What I like most about the experience is how they left my lashes thick and just took out the small stray hairs without going all crazy with the threading.

Getting Eyelash extensions is a new thing for me. I've always been curious about it but never really worked up the nerve to try it. I love putting on a full face and I certainly love using false eyelashes and I always wondered how extensions would look on me. I really wanted to try something that fit my makeup style so I chose the XLIB specifically to give my glam motds that extra oomph falsies give. I wanted them as thick as I could possibly get them. I chose the cat eye style because I like the sleepy/sultry look it gives as well as the fact that they look sexy and i was told that losing a few clusters wouldn't be as obvious with the other style. I felt that the XLIB suited my personality best and reflected my love for all things glam. It was also serendipitous to have the opportunity to try the XLIB for a shoot we were having the next day for our hair goals project.

This is how the XLIB by Browhaus looked on me on the first day. I didn't have any makeup on. You can really see the big diffrence the eyelash extension procedure makes.

On the day of our shoot, I didn't have to put on too much makeup and I didn't need to put on falsies anymore. The XLIB really adds an extra pizzazz to your look. It kicks it up a notch without going overboard. I love how it made me look glamorous but not overdone.

On regular days, I've had to tone down my usual motd. I would usually just slap on some bb cream and lipstick and I looked totally made up. Sometimes, I would even just dust on some powder and swipe on some lip tint and it would be enough. You get a glam "woke up like this" look even without any makeup on. The lashes do most of the work for you. It's like you have so many coats of your favorite mascara without the clumps.

I personally enjoyed my first ever eyelash extension from Browhaus. It lasted almost two weeks on me but I've been told it varies for each person. The double cleansing I do before I go to sleep probably disturbed the glue attaching the strands. Given the fact that I love putting on a full face, it would be next to impossible to discontinue my usual skincare at the end of the day because this is how I prevent breakouts. I enjoy glam motds with tons of products and I've had to cut down on using makeup because one, you absolutely didn't need much to look amazing with these lashes, and two, more products mean more cleansing.

The Browhaus XLIB, would be a terrific choice for girls who wear minimal makeup and for girls on the go. It's also great for travelling and for when you don't want to bring too many products with you on a trip. That being said, these extensions need extra care when you bathe and cleanse. You will have to avoid letting the water hit your face/lashes directly as you shower, oil based makeup removers, and touching your lash/ eye area. You also need to carefully brush the lashes with a clean spooley to remove dirt and to unclump/untangle them. I used a wet microfiber cloth to remove my eye makeup and I had to skip my mascara for the whole time I had them. You are not allowed to rub your eyes. Once they start falling out, you can have touch ups or if you want to have them taken out, Browhaus can remove them for you painlessly without plucking out your real lashes.

To summarize, you basically don't need to put on as much product but you need to exert extra effort to maintain the lashes themselves. You can cut down on the time you spend putting together your motd but you will need to take care of the lashes to get the most out of them.

I really enjoyed my Browhaus XLIB experience and I hope this post helped you make up your mind about getting them. Personally, I liked them, but I also missed putting on the whole shebang for my motds--- namely my mascara and falsies. The fabulous treat really made me understand why a lot of my friends love it.

Try it for yourself at any Browhaus branch near you. I got mine from their Abreeza branch in Davao. Thank you so much to Ms. Monique Jamlang and the Browhaus staff for letting us try their wonderful services.

Thank you so much for visiting and may the glam be with you always! :)
